Maintaining their upward curve, Clarecastle advanced to the last four of the Under 13 Division 2 Football Championship following a commanding 5-11 to 0-07 quarter-final victory over Cooraclare on home soil this evening.

A blistering opening quarter set the tone for a hugely impressive team display as quickfire goals through Jack Ellingstad, Tom Slattery, Darragh McDonnell & Sean Kelly ensured a 4-3 to 0-0 advantage by the first water break.

Cooraclare inevitably rallied though and over the next 30 minutes, the sides were embroiled in a real low-scoring battle, thanks to some excellent defending from Paddy Sweeney, Tadgh Duffy, Sean Meere and Harry O’Donoghue.

And after weathering the storm, the Magpies went about quelling any further resistance when finishing with an unanswered tally of 1-5, with Darragh McDonnell (1-2) and the outstanding Rory Ralph (0-2) confirming a semi-final showdown with Kilmurry Ibrickane on Saturday week.

Up next for the dual dynamos is a final round Under 13A Hurling Championship group stage clash against Tulla in Clarecastle on Sunday at 11am, with all support greatly appreciated.

Scorers: Darragh McDonnell (2-2); Rory Ralph (0-6, 2f); Sean Kelly (1-2); Tom Slattery, (1-1); Jack Ellingstad (1-0)
