Clarecastle made it 4 wins from 4 in the U17A Hurling Championship with a hard fought victory over Ballyea in Rd. 5 played this evening in Clarecastle.

In the first half, Clarecastle started strongly with points from play from Sean Meere, Daragh McDonnell, Sean Kelly and Ruairi Keogh, while Rory Ralph was accurate from frees. A well taken goal by Sean Kelly helped the Magpies to  a 4 point lead just before the half time whistle.

Half Time: Clarecastle 1-11 Ballyea 1-7

In the first quarter of the second half, Clarecastle pushed clear to lead by nine points with a goal from Ruairi Keogh and points from Jack Ellingstad, Fionn Plunkett and Rory Ralph.

Ballyea hit back strongly with points and two goals that cut the gap to just a single point heading into the final minutes. The decisive score came in the final minute, when Sam Kelly struck for goal to seal victory for Clarecastle after a Ballyea comeback.
