| SMB Too Strong For Young Magpie Side | ||||

Fielding a panel of players where all but three, will again be eligible for next year’s competition proved too much of an ask for Clarecastle in round 2 of the minor ‘A’ hurling championship. A Sixmilebridge side that fielded several members of the Clare Munster Minor Championship winning side were much superior in most departments and led at the break on a score line of 3-12 to 1-04. Clarecastle scores coming from, Gearoid Ryan 0-01, Conor O’Gorman 0-02, and a goal and a point from county minor star Stephen O’Halloran. Clarecastle started the second half brightly with a Stephen O’Halloran point in the 2nd minute, followed a minute later by an excellent Stephen Ward goal, but that was as good as it got for Clarecastle as SMB ran out easy winners. For Clarecastle Stephen O’Halloran had a great game, while Stephen Ward was always a threat up front, at midfield the under 16 partnership of Ml Casey and John McInerney put in a good hours work. Gearoid Ryan, both at wing forward and later at wing back was impressive and Conor O’Gorman was much more involved when moved to centre back.
