Under 16A Hurling Championship Round 4

Clarecastle 3-6 Sixmilebridge 3-5

at Clarecastle

In what was always going to be their toughest test to date, Clarecastle showed some great character to maintain their perfect start to the championship.

And the home side had to be vigilant to make sure of the victory after Clare minor Jamie Shanahan bagged two late goals to undo all of Clarecastle's earlier work and cut the deficit to just the minimum.

However, Clarecastle were worthy of the win having lead for the majority with a Bobby Duggan goal in the first half aiding his side's two point advantage at the break while further goals from Jack McDermott and Aaron Greene appeared to make the points safe.

However, you can never write off the 'Bridge and despite an admirable fightback, the Magpies clung on for victory, hoping to make a clean sweep of points this weekend against Ballyea in their final group game before the semi-finals.

Clarecastle: Ben Moloney, Tommy Howard, Conor Clancy, Conor Galvin, Pa Tuohy, Gearoid Ryan, Mark McGuane, Mikie Casey (0-1), John McInerney, Bobby Duggan (1-3), Pajo Dolan, Stephen Ward, Jonathan Griffey (0-1), Jack McDermott (1-0), Joseph Barry (0-1)

Sub Aaron Greene (1-0)
